General Terms of Business

By buying a ticket to Bass Strait Maritime Museum, you agree to these terms and conditions.

  • Tickets grant access to specific areas and activities as stated at purchase.
  • The museum can change exhibits, tour schedules, or opening hours without notice.
  • The café at the museum is a separate business and unconnected to the museum enterprise.

Ticket Sales and Entry Conditions:

  • Buying Tickets: Purchase tickets online or at the museum.
  • Opening Hours: The museum opens at 10am and closes at 3pm, 7 days a week.
  • Children under fourteen must always be with an adult.
  • Discounts: We offer discounts for full-time students, pensioners, and Health Care Card holders. Please show your card when requested to do so.
  • Devonport Residents: To receive free entry, you must present a valid photo ID with Devonport postcode: 7310. 
  • Companion Card holders: One companion is admitted free of charge with the presentation of a valid Companion Card.
  • Service Animals: Clearly identified, official service animals are welcome.
  • Accessibility: Contact us to discuss any access needs you may have.
  • Right to refuse: Museum staff can refuse entry to visitors acting contrary to the public good. This includes people under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. Aggression will not be tolerated.
  • Security cameras: CCTV is in use at the museum 24 hours a day.
  • Strict Policy on Crime: Individuals engaging in theft or shoplifting will face legal consequences.

Refund and Cancellation Policy:

  • Ticket costs are non-refundable. Refunds are issued if the museum cancels an event.
  • Notify BSMM promptly if you need to change your booking. We cannot refund payments but can offer alternative dates. 
  • We recommend checking our Facebook Page, in relation to unexpected site access changes.

Visitor Liability and Responsibilities:

  • Visitors enter at their own risk, the museum is not responsible for loss, damage, or injury unless due to negligence.
  • In case of emergency, please follow all safety guidelines and staff instructions.
  • The museum is not responsible for lost or stolen belongings.

Amendments:

  • The museum may update these terms and conditions at any time. Temporary changes will be announced on our Facebook page. Permanent updates will be posted on our website.
